Personality:

We would describe Kylie as warm, friendly and easy to talk to. Discussing nutrition can feel uncomfortable or personal, but she makes you feel like you are opening up to a friend and her style is never judgmental or harsh.

Background:

Kylie Gearhart, MS, RD, CDN is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who earned her Bachelor’s of Science and Master’s Degree in Nutrition Science from East Carolina University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the Outstanding Graduate Award. During her Master’s program she published her thesis which explored food and sugar addictions, especially in those recovering from substance abuse, and how to combat these cravings. Kylie has worked as a Clinical Dietitian for over six years in a number of hospitals and outpatient clinics including Lenoir and Wayne Memorial Hospitals in North Carolina, and Hahnemann University Hospital and the Center of Hope ALS Clinic in Philadelphia. She is now the Assistant Clinical Nutrition Manager at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital in New York City. She is involved in corporate wellness, often giving lectures or one on one nutritional counseling at different universities and offices. Kylie has treated thousands of patients with a wide variety of disease states and nutritional needs utilizing top-notch individualized medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling.

Kylie has experience working with weight management, obesity, pre-diabetes/diabetes (type 1 & 2), diabetes insipidus, hormonal disorders (PCOS, hypothyroidism), cardiovascular disease/hypertension/heart health, GI disorders (gut health, FODMAPS, SIBO, IBS, IBD, GERD, Crohns/colitis), renal disease, dysphagia, oncology nutrition, eating disorders, food allergies/intolerances/sensitivities, vegan/vegetarian diets, tube feeding and general healthy eating.

Counseling Philosophy:

Kylie believes nutrition is an integral component of physical, mental, and emotional well-being. In her many years of clinical experience, she has witnessed first hand how significantly diet can impact the overall health of clients. She is a firm believer that a healthy or restrictive diet does not need to be redundant or tasteless. She enjoys pairing her extensive knowledge in medical nutrition therapy with creativity to produce fun, simple, delicious, and individualized diets, recipes, and food ideas. Her goal is to provide the education and tools necessary for clients to make the best nutritional decisions whether they are at work, home, a restaurant, grocery store, on the road, at a holiday party, or wherever their unique lifestyle takes them.

Personal Interests:

Kylie is a self-proclaimed “foodie” who enjoys maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle while experiencing life to the fullest. She loves cooking healthy meals (and posting them on Instagram, of course ☺), trying new NYC restaurants, and taking boxing, yoga, Pilates, dance and spin classes. An avid skier since childhood, Kylie enjoys hitting slopes all over the world and spending quality time with her friends, family and cuddly, 90lb Briard “puppy”, Brodie.
